The Paediatric Program treats patients from newborn up to their 18th birthday. We care for a wide variety of children with a diagnosis ranging from medical, surgical, oncology to mental health issues. Some of the most common diagnoses are neonatal jaundice, bronchiolitis, asthma, and gastroenteritis.

The program is located at the Met Campus and includes a Paediatric Outpatient Department on 3 North and an Inpatient Unit on 3 East.

The Paediatric Program is a Clinical Teaching Unit (CTU). It is part of the Southwestern Ontario Medical Education Network (SWOMEN) which is an extension of the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario.

We are a multidisciplinary team of registered nurses, paediatricians and other physicians, child life specialists, social workers, respiratory therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, other allied health professionals, and dedicated volunteers.

We strive to work with our patients and families to provide safe, evidence-based care in a family-centered environment.

Outpatient surgery is performed on children from newborns and up until the sixteenth birthday. The most common surgeries performed are tonsillectomies and adenoidectomies, myringotomies, hernia repairs, and dental surgery.

We are now offering a Surgical Safari: Pre-Op Tour to help reduce the anxieties of having a child undergo surgery.

The surgical Safari tour is a preoperative tour for children having surgery at Windsor Regional Hospital. On the tour, we provide age-appropriate explanations of medical equipment and show your child the areas of the hospital he or she will visit on their day of surgery.

For more information or to schedule a tour, call Child Life Services at 519-254-5577 ext. 53408.

This surgical Safari video takes you inside the hospital to get familiar with the departments and equipment your child can expect during his or her surgery.
