W.E. Care for Kids Foundation Names New Executive Director

The W.E. Care for Kids Foundation Board of Directors has appointed its first Executive Director, Stephanie Lyanga. Stephanie has many years of experience working in the not-for-profit sector and brings with her a multitude of knowledge and progressive leadership to the Foundation. She has a strong commitment to giving back and values collaboration for the betterment of a community.
For those who don't know, the W.E. Care for Kids Foundation is a not-for-profit organization focused on raising funds for paediatric programs in Windsor-Essex. Established in 1997, by the late Dr. Joe Galiwango, Bill Micelli, and Alan Defoe, W.E. Care for Kids was intended to be a one-time initiative. However, the founders soon realized there was an essential need for paediatric equipment in our community. Throughout the years, the Foundation has raised over $7.8 million and continues to play a vital role in the community by addressing a community need to lessen the necessity for children and their families to travel outside of the Windsor-Essex region for healthcare.
W.E. Care for Kids has been a strong contributor to Windsor Regional Hospital throughout the years by providing funds to purchase paediatric equipment not funded by the government. The paediatric equipment includes but is not limited to, a Paediatric Ventilator for the NICU, Infant and baby Scales, Otoscopes & Ophthalmoscopes, Hand Held Pulse Oximeters, Dental X-Ray Unit, and Mini C Arm. Throughout the years, W.E. Care for Kids has raised over $2.5-million for WRH's paediatric programs. The organization has also provided support to the Ronald McDonald House Windsor, which is located on the 3rd Floor of WRH's Met Campus.
The W.E. Care for Kids office is located on the 1st Floor at WRH's Met Campus. Throughout the year, the Foundation hosts a range of fundraising initiatives in Windsor-Essex, individually and in partnership with local businesses, organizations and individuals.
