Let’s Hear It For Our Health Sciences Library and Librarian!
19-10-2022
October is Medical Library and Librarian Month!
It's a time to raise awareness about the important role health information professionals play within our healthcare team and organization. Celebrate for the rest of October by visiting or contacting the Ouellette Campus Health Sciences Library to learn about the library and partake in seasonally themed activities, games and prize draws.
Research has shown medical librarians directly impact clinical decision-making and patient-care outcomes through the information services and resources they provide. Did you know your WRH Health Sciences Library/Librarian…
- Curates a diverse and valuable healthcare collection based on systematic choices for books, journals, and resources to improve research, clinical care, and continuing education.
- Catalogs and organizes material within the collection by appropriate subject headings so it is easier for you to locate a book, journal, article, or standard.
- Manages access rights by supporting copyright, intellectual property, and licensed resources in relation to information requests or author assistance.
- Locates and obtains hard-to-find information on your behalf, through various databases or online searching, to save you time and improve outcomes.
- Administers online medical information and resource subscriptions for the Health Sciences Library and other departments.
- Orders medical/nursing textbooks, standards, and other material, usually at a discount and with free shipping, for departments and individuals.
- Educates users on effective literature searching techniques, and provides information resource training.
The WRH Health Sciences Library is there to support all students, clinicians, administrators, and researchers with comprehensive, authoritative health information, search instruction, and continuing education goals!
