MBA Students Raise Funds for COVID-19 Assistance Fund
4-3-2021
Students at the University of Windsor are putting their Bingo dabbers to good use to support the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation's COVID-19 Assistance Fund.
MBA students Ronak Doowd and Isabella Baggio have launched a unique fundraiser creating a Bingo card with donation amounts in 16 boxes ranging from $20 to $1. 32 students in the program are encouraged to post the Bingo cards on their social media pages requesting donations from family, friends, and colleagues for the entire month of March. Donations are being accepted via an e-transfer account.
“The hospital is going through a lot right now, so we wanted to help out as much as we could,” says Doowd.
If all 32 students fill out at least one Bingo card each, it will generate $4,000 to the COVID-19 Assistance Fund. Within days of launching the fundraiser, a few students already had donations for all of their Bingo boxes.
The MBA program this year, which is online this year, consists of students in business, nursing and engineering.
“Everyone seems really excited about this,” says Doowd. “We haven’t met each other, we only see each other online through a camera and we think doing this as a group will bring us together.”
For Isabella Baggio, the fundraiser hits close to home as she was a nursing student who just entered the MBA program. Otherwise, she admits she would have been on the frontlines during the pandemic.
“I think we all know someone who is in the healthcare field or a frontline line, so if this could support them in any way, we are making a difference and that’s what is important,” says Baggio.
She adds the card is a guide, so if anyone want to support the cause, they will gladly accept any donation amounts.
Anyone who wants to support the MBA Covid Relief Challenge is encouraged to reach out to either Ronak or Isabella who will direct them to students who could use some help filling in their Bingo card.
