In order to continue with the planning for a new state-of-the-art, acute care hospital at County Rd. 42 and the 9th Concession, Windsor Regional Hospital has submitted an application to the City of Windsor requesting an amendment to the city's Official Plan and Zoning By-laws.
The submission, including accompanying reports, available on the City of Windsor's website.
This is a City of Windsor requirement and is a natural next step in the planning process.
On August 14, 2018, Windsor City Council and the Planning, Heritage & Economic Development Standing Committee voted to approve the plan at a special joint Public Meeting.
The Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT) heard the appeal in October 2019. In December 2019, the LPAT issued a decision that supports Windsor City Council's August 14, 2018 decision to approve the rezoning of the selected site for a new regional hospital and an official plan amendment for the surrounding area. That decision is now being challenged.
