Community Partners Teaming Up For Testing Campaign
9-4-2021
Community partners are teaming up next week to help offer targeted COVID-19 asymptomatic testing for local students and education staff.
As noted in letters sent home with students this week by local school boards, the province has requested expanded availability to test asymptomatic students and education staff during the April break. In conjunction with this provincial government direction, the previously closed Met Campus COVID-19 Assessment Centre will be open for asymptomatic student swabbing on Tuesday, April 13 and Thursday, April 15, with staffing provided by the Erie Shores HealthCare and Essex-Windsor EMS Community Response and Stabilization Team (CRST). To book a test for an asymptomatic student or education staff member, go to www.wrh.on.ca/OnlineBooking and choose the MET location to book your appointment over either April 13 or April 15.
Symptomatic individuals should continue to book their appointments at existing Windsor Regional Hospital and ESHC COVID-19 Assessment Centres in Windsor (Ouellette Campus) and Leamington, respectively. For Ouellette Campus, go online to www.wrh.on.ca/OnlineBooking. To book appointments in Leamington, CLICK HERE. You can also book an appointment by calling 519-326-2373 extension 4263. Again, please have your health card ready.
Additionally, Medical Laboratories of Windsor is assisting with regional testing needs by expanding the hours of its assessment centre in Lasalle (located at 5841 Malden Rd.). Med Labs tests for both symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals. Its assessment centre hours are Monday-Friday from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm; Saturdays from 3 pm to 7 pm; and Sundays from 10 am to 2 pm. Again, testing is by appointment only; go to www.medlabsofwindsor.com to book or call 519-258-1991ext. 0.
