Asian Heritage Month

Over the last two centuries, immigrants have journeyed to Canada from East Asia, Southern Asia, Western, Central and Southeast Asia, bringing our society a rich cultural heritage representing many languages, ethnicities and religious traditions.
The people of this diverse, vibrant and growing community have contributed to every aspect of life in Canada — from the arts and science to sport, business, and government. As of the 2021 Census, there are over 7 million Canadians of Asian and South Asian descent with the breakdown including about 2.5 million Canadians of South Asians, 2.2 million Canadians of East Asian descent, 1.4 million Canadians of Southeast Asian descent, and over 1 million Canadians of West Asian descent.
Asian Heritage Month offers all Canadians an opportunity to learn more about the history of Canadians of Asian heritage and to celebrate their contributions to the growth and prosperity of Canada.
