What is Critical Care?
The critical care unit services the seriously ill patients with a variety of diagnosis. This area houses concentrated special equipment and skilled personnel for the care of seriously ill patients requiring continuous attention.
Windsor Regional Hospital has a total of 14 Coronary Care Unit (CCU) beds and 34 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds. Staffed by a dedicated and highly skilled team of healthcare professionals, our state of-the-art units provide the best in Critical Care to patients from Trauma, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Vascular Surgery, Renal as well as complicated medical patients suffering from respiratory and gastro-intestinal diagnoses.
ICU is Intensivist led and is considered a "closed unit" (Intensivist has to admit all patients). The Intensivist is available (in-house or on-call) for ICU patients 24 hours a day. In addition to the Intensivist, the ICU has a Nurse Practioner on site daily.
