Job Summary:

As a member of the Decision Support team at Windsor Regional Hospital, this person will primarily work in collaboration with provincial and regional cancer/renal partners to support the Erie St Clair (ESC) Regional Cancer Program (RCP) and Regional Renal Program. This position will provide data analysis expertise in the areas of cancer and renal surveillance, research, information/data dissemination, evaluation, quality improvement, and Quality Based Procedures (QBP) reporting to contribute to the building of better developed and managed cancer/renal services across Erie St. Clair.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring compilation of data/reporting pertaining to QBPs driving funding and performance agreements
  • Assists with designing/implementing performance/quality improvement measures within the Regional Cancer Program and the Regional Renal Program
  • Manages data associated with required and requested Ministry and Corporate indicators
  • Collects and links cancer/renal data from various sources including but not limited to: CCO (IPORT), Ontario Renal Reporting System, Nephrocare, Statistics Canada data and surveys, CIHI and other relevant databases.
  • Develop or modify databases for the collection of relevant information and extraction of informative data.
  • Collaborates with various local and regional stakeholders regarding their information needs
  • Coordinates and conducts analysis of regional cancer/renal system based on provincial data, community input and other sources for the purpose of identifying gaps and establishing planning priorities
  • Provides consultative and analytical support involving integrated clinical, statistical, and financial information to support evidence-based decision-making and the monitoring of performance.
  • Required analyses may include trending, impact analysis and benchmarking as requested to support monthly utilization reporting and presentation to internal and external committees and agencies.
  • Determines and influences the collection of new cancer/renal data through new and existing data collection tools and questionnaires
  • Reviews and validates data samples to ensure high quality timely cancer data accurate assumptions are used in regional service planning and evaluation.

Qualifications:

  • A Baccalaureate Degree in health administration, health policy, statistics, business or equivalent, Masters preferred
  • Experience with biostatistics, evaluation or related field required
  • Minimum of 2 years in a health care (hospital) environment. (preferred)
  • Experience in conducting methodologically sound, multidisciplinary, evidence-based research
  • Proven ability to undertake advanced statistical analysis and interpretation of all types of health data
  • Solid understanding of report writing for both ad hoc and regular reporting including data structure and standardization. Select candidates will be tested prior to proceeding to interview stage.
  • Excellent facilitation and leadership skills, which foster a collaborative team, approach to data and research initiatives.
  • High level of proficiency with a variety of computer software – i.e. Word, Excel, Access, statistical software (e.g. SPSS, SAS) Medline, PowerPoint, Internet.
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication, customer service. team building with the ability to model positive change.
  • Good understanding of/sensitivity to Health Policy environment, the ability to assess impact on hospital operations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning.
  • French Language proficiency an asset.
