Mental Health

1 in 5 Canadians will experience a mental health or addiction problem and on average, more than 10 Canadians die every day by suicide. Talking openly about mental illness and suicide and getting help from mental health professionals are two of the best ways to fight these statistics.

The Mental Health Program at Windsor Regional Hospital provides services to an average of 4000 members of our community each year. Services include emergency psychiatric assessments through the Emergency Department, admission into our 60-bed acute mental health program, or admission into our 8 bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit. In addition our program psychiatrists provide services to patients admitted in other areas of the hospital. A multidisciplinary team of professionals including nursing, social work, occupational therapy, family practice physicians, and psychiatrists work with individuals and families to promote recovery and maximize each person’s strengths and resiliencies. The staff and physicians in the program are truly dedicated to fighting the impact of mental illness in our community.
