Decision Support Analyst, Windsor Regional Cancer Program (Full Time)


Job Summary
 

As a member of the Decision Support team at Windsor Regional Hospital, the Regional Cancer System Decision Support Analyst primarily will work in collaboration with provincial and regional cancer partners to support the Erie St Clair (ESC) Regional Cancer Program (RCP) by providing data analysis expertise in the areas of cancer surveillance, research, information/data dissemination, evaluation, quality improvement and prevention to contribute to the building of better developed and managed cancer services across Erie St. Clair.

Qualifications
  • Master degree in biostatistics, evaluation or related field required.
  • Minimum of three years experience in surveillance, evaluation and epidemiology required.
  • Experience in conducting methodologically sound, multidisciplinary, evidence-based research
  • Proven ability to undertake advanced statistical analysis and interpretation of all types of health data
  • Expertise in cancer data surveillance systems preferred, research experience an asset.
  • Excellent facilitation and leadership skills which foster a collaborative team approach to data and research initiatives.
  • High level of proficiency with a variety of computer software – i.e. Word, Excel, Access, statistical software (e.g. SPSS, SAS) Medline, PowerPoint, Internet.
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication, customer service and team building with the ability to initiate and model positive change.
  • Good understanding of and sensitivity to Health Policy environment and the ability to assess impact on hospital operations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to life long learning.
  • French Language proficiency an asset.
Responsibilities
  
  • Undertakes qualitative analyses, theming, interpretation and summation of survey, interview and focus group results and data
  • Collects and links cancer data from various sources including but not limited to: CCO (IPORT), Statistics Canada data and surveys, CIHI and other relevant databases.
  • Develop or modify databases for the collection of relevant information and extraction of informative data.
  • Reviews and validates data samples to ensure high quality, timely cancer data and accurate assumptions are used in regional service planning and evaluation
  • Coordinates and conducts analysis of regional cancer system based on provincial data, community input and other sources for the purpose of identifying gaps and establishing planning priorities
  • Provides consultative and analytical support involving integrated clinical, statistical, and financial information to support evidence-based decision making and the monitoring of performance.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment for all staff, patients/clients/residents, visitors, physicians, volunteers and families.
  • Assists with designing and implementing a performance and quality improvement program for the ESC RCP
  • Determines and influences the collection of new cancer data through new and existing data collection tools and questionnaires
  • Reviews and validates data samples to ensure high quality timely cancer data accurate assumptions are used in regional service planning and evaluation.
