MDS Assessment Nurse (Part Time)


Job Summary 

Reporting to the Program Director, the MDS Assessment Nurse is responsible for providing safe, effective and ethical nursing care. The MDS Assessment Nurse adheres to the philosophy, policies, procedures and Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario.

The MDS Assessment Nurse is a fully integrated member of a multidisciplinary team, to include Physician’s, Nurses, Allied Health, and Social Work.

The MDS Assessment Nurse is responsible for the application of current theory and research in the delivery of care consistent with the vision and values of the hospital and the standards of relevant professional organizations. The MDS Assessment Nurse complies with the Occupational Health and Safety standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.

 

Education/Training

  • Registered Nurse with current Registration issued through the College of Nurses of Ontario - required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing – preferred

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates competence with Physical Assessment Skills – required
  • Previous experience in chart review and process improvement – preferred
  • Previous experience in conducting chart audits and collating results – preferred
  • Strong, clear and concise documentation skills – required
  • Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel – strongly preferred
  • Experience with assessment of patients in the geriatric population – preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required.
  • Good problem solving skills and ability to think analytically, innovatively and independently – required
  • Able to work independently, strongly self-motivated with the ability to meet strict timelines and deadlines - required
