Infant Hearing Screening Assistant (Casual)

Job Summary

The Infant Hearing Screener is responsible for provisions of infant hearing screening to newborns prior to discharge, at the maternal/newborn visit and/or by scheduled appointment using DPOAE and AABR techniques. The Infant Hearing Screening Assistant complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment. The incumbent is responsible for delivery of care consistent with the vision and values of the hospital and the standards of relevant professional organizations.


  • Minimum Grade 12 education.
  • Minimum 2 years direct patient care experience.
  • Comfortable working with newborns and premature infants.
  • Good oral communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to chart appropriately.
  • Commitment to standards of excellence and the concept of accountability.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • General good health and a level of fitness appropriate to the demands of the position.
