Our Purpose
DriveABLE objectively evaluates the driving competence of drivers whose ability to drive may be compromised by medical or cognitive conditions or medications.
Service Description
The DriveABLE assessment procedures were developed through years of research comparing hundreds of drivers. Validation studies confirm that the procedures identify drivers of any age whose competence has declined to an unsafe level because of reduced mental abilities.
There are two parts to an assessment which are usually included on the same day; the Competence Screen and the Road Test. When the results from the Competence Screen are sufficient to determine the person’s competence, the testing ends there. If the results leave any questions open, the driver goes on to the Road Test.
Additional information is available from the Corporate DriveABLE web site found at www.driveable.com
Referral Guidelines
Referrals are accepted from licensing authorities, physicians, insurance agencies, and from private individuals. When individuals are self-referred, or referred by family members, we ask that a physician be included in the decision making. Ultimately, all referrals are voluntary.
Referrals for a DriveABLE assessment may be made by contacting the Geriatric Assessment Program at 257-5112. The referral form may be accessed at the link below.
Fees
There is a fee for this assessment service. Specific information concerning fees is available from DriveABLE in Windsor, 257-5112.
