Windsor Regional Hospital Corporate Information

David Musyj Small Board

Welcome to Windsor Regional Hospital, a multi-faceted, health services organization operating from two main sites, the Metropolitan Campus and the Western Campus.

Our organization is committed to supporting a comprehensive, patient/client/resident and family centered health system for the citizens of Windsor/Essex County and for some specialized services, Chatham-Kent. In association with our community partners, we provide a wide variety of services that contribute to this community health system.

Windsor Regional is just completing its strategic planning process for the 2008-2011 period. The Strategic Directions Steering Committee that is leading the development of the Hospital's vision, mission, values and strategic directions is a dynamic group made up of front line staff, Directors, Senior administrators, physicians and Board members. The results of the process will be released in the Fall of 2008.

Windsor Regional was one of the first Hospitals to introduce patient quality and safety indicators publicly. These include Hospital Standardized Mortality Ratios (HSMR), Hospital acquired Infection rates, patient and staff satisfaction and financial performance. Windsor Regional will regularly publish its performance information, using indicators to measure and report on how well we're doing towards meeting targets and/or to highlight areas for ongoing improvement.

Windsor Regional is committed to providing Outstanding Care - no exceptions !

The engine of Windsor Regional is its staff. This includes employees, professional staff (medical/dental staff) and volunteers. Windsor Regional has been recognized and honoured by local, provincial and national organizations for its workplace initiatives. These include the Hospital's vibrant Healthy Lifestyles Program which includes on-site yoga, jazzercise, healthy eating, weight training, walking clinics and running clinic. Windsor Regional has been recognized for two years running with the Heart Health Action with their Gold Award along with being recognized nationally by the National Quality Institute - Level 2 in their Progressive Excellence program.

In addition, Windsor Regional Hospital is committed to creating a complete healing environment. From ensuring you are greeted at the Welcome Desk to being aided along your visit with the many volunteers that are stationed throughout the campuses - customer service is what we pride ourselves on. Windsor Regional also has introduced some exciting programs including At Your Request® patient dining/room service, In Concert with Wellness which allows local musicians to attend the Hospital to share the joy of music will patients/families and staff to the playing of Brahms Lullaby every time a baby is born at the Hospital, just to name a few.

Windsor Regional is excited that the redevelopment of the Western Campus is underway. The project will take place over the next 3 years and will result in a renovated tower building that will house Erie St. Clair LHIN's inpatient rehabilitation service along with increasing the number of complex continuing care beds. In addition, vacant buildings are being demolished to make way for a new specialized mental health facility that will allow Windsor patients and families to instead of going to St. Thomas stay in Windsor - where they belong - at home. At the conclusion of the construction project Windsor Regional's Western campus will a modern state of the art medical teaching facility.
