Essex District High School Donation

Students from Essex District High School recently visited Windsor Regional Hospital on Monday to donate funds from a ‘Pennies For Paeds’ campaign they initiated over the last two years.  Thirty Grade 11 Parenting Class students from Essex District High School toured the Met Campus an made a presentation in the Playroom.

”The idea actually came from the students last year at the end of a field trip. They realized the cost of travelling and wanted to do something to give back,” stated Mandi Scherer-Horn, their Grade 11 Teacher. “Students over the last two years collected a total of 26,246 pennies. The group today is presenting a cheque representing the $262.46 and know it will help children in some way while receiving care at Windsor Regional Hospital.”

The funds will be utilized by Child Life Services who provide proactive care to young patients while having to undergo a procedure or test.
